Amed Lodge by Sudamala Resorts is a small beachfront property on Jemeluk Beach, the bay at the centre of the Amed stretch on Bali’s far northeast coast. Seven cottages built from old timber, each named after a place in east Bali, sit on terraces above black pebble sand, with a pool, the Suda Cafe facing the water and Mount Agung across the bay.

For a wedding it works as an elopement address. Sudamala publishes an intimate package for its Sanur and Amed properties at USD 1,800 nett for two, covering the ceremony setting and decoration, Balinese dress and make-up for the bride, a celebrant for the blessing, two nights in a suite with breakfast and a romantic dinner, with extra guests added from USD 15 each. Ceremonies happen on the sand or in the garden terraces, dinner at Suda Cafe or at a table set on the beach with lanterns.

We point couples here when the diving matters as much as the wedding. Jemeluk reef starts a few metres offshore, Aqura Dives works from the property, and the Liberty wreck at Tulamben is 20 minutes north. The published package sheet carries no date, so we reconfirm current figures and inclusions with the resort for your date.

Why we love it

Jemeluk Bay is the best snorkelling in Amed

The lodge sits on the bay where the reef starts a few metres out and the jukung fleet comes in at breakfast. Couples who pick Amed usually pick it for the water, and this is the stretch of coast where the water is the point.

Seven cottages, so you can take all of it

Each cottage is named after a place in east Bali and built from old timber, with bamboo ceilings and antique doors. Seven of them means a wedding party of a dozen or so has the whole property, which removes most of the awkwardness of marrying inside a working hotel.

A published price, which is rare on this coast

Sudamala circulates a wedding package sheet with a real figure on it: USD 1,800 nett for two, with the ceremony setting, Balinese dress, a celebrant, two nights and a romantic dinner included. Most properties in Amed will not put a number on paper at all.

Common questions

Can you get married at Amed Lodge?+

Yes, on a small scale. Sudamala publishes an intimate wedding package for its Sanur and Amed properties covering the ceremony setting, decoration, Balinese dress and make-up for the bride, a celebrant for the blessing, two nights in a suite and a romantic dinner. It is written for two, with extra guests added per head.

How much does a wedding at Amed Lodge cost?+

The published intimate package starts at USD 1,800 nett for the couple, with additional guests from USD 15 each. The sheet is undated and inclusions move, so we reconfirm the current version with the resort before you commit to a date.

How many guests can it take?+

Seven cottages, so realistically the couple plus a dozen or so people who take the whole property. This is elopement territory rather than a guest-list wedding, and we will tell you straight if your numbers have outgrown it.

Is there anything to do around the wedding?+

Diving and snorkelling, mostly. Aqura Dives works from the property, Jemeluk Bay reef starts a few metres offshore, and the USAT Liberty wreck at Tulamben is about 20 minutes up the coast. We build the dive days around the wedding and keep them off the morning of.
