Tauch Terminal Resort Tulamben & Spa is a 15-room dive resort on the black sand at Tulamben, on Bali’s northeast coast, with Mount Agung filling the sky behind it and the USAT Liberty wreck a short walk up the beach. It has been a dive address since long before Tulamben had hotels, and the wedding offer follows from that rather than being bolted on.

There are two formats. The resort ceremony happens on the garden lawn, with a petal aisle, a Balinese shrine behind and an evening buffet with Balinese dance at the Bamboo restaurant. The underwater ceremony happens on a prepared dive site off the house reef: a briefing first, then a priest and two assistants in the water with you, rings exchanged on the sand, and a rose shower as you surface. The published dive wedding package is EUR 550 and covers the ceremony, the crew’s tanks, tanks for up to four guests plus the couple, the bouquet, the certificate and a cake with sparkling wine. Equipment hire sits on top.

Both formats cap at 30 guests in 15 rooms, which the resort states plainly, so a dive group takes the whole property. We reconfirm current figures and availability with the resort for your date.

Why we love it

They will actually marry you underwater

This is the only published underwater ceremony we know of on Bali's northeast coast, and it is run properly: the dive site is prepared beforehand, there is a briefing, a priest and two assistants go in with you, and you come up through a rose shower. Certified divers only, which is the honest part.

Agung sits directly behind the resort

Seen from the water the property has the volcano filling the frame above it and black sand in front. It is one of the few places on the island where the mountain and the sea are in the same photograph without a drone.

15 rooms means you can take all of it

The resort caps its weddings at 30 people in 15 rooms and says so plainly. A dive group that size books the whole property, marries on the reef or on the lawn, and eats together at the Bamboo restaurant with Balinese dance afterwards.

Good to know

Common questions

Can you get married underwater at Tulamben?+

Yes. Tauch Terminal publishes a dive wedding package at EUR 550 that covers preparing the wedding dive site, the briefing, a priest and two assistants, tanks for the crew and up to four guests plus the couple, the bouquet, a rose shower as you surface, the certificate and a celebration with cake and sparkling wine. Dive equipment is charged separately.

Do we need to be certified divers?+

For the underwater ceremony, yes, and so do any guests going down with you. The resort runs SSI courses on site, so couples sometimes certify in the days before the wedding. If diving is not for you, the resort ceremony on the garden lawn covers the same day without the tanks.

How many guests can attend?+

30 guests, in 15 rooms. That is the resort's own stated ceiling and it applies to the wedding-day buffet as well. Up to four guests plus the couple can be on tanks for the underwater ceremony itself, with the rest watching from the boat or waiting on the beach.

What do the full wedding packages include?+

Both are built around three days and two nights for the couple in a deluxe room with breakfast. They include a welcome drink for everyone, room decoration and a bouquet, a bottle of champagne or wine, a spa package for the couple, the ceremony itself, an evening buffet, Balinese dance and a photo shoot, underwater or on land. Prices are quoted per wedding rather than published.
