A trial is standard everywhere. What makes it different in Bali is the climate, so we try to run it under conditions that resemble the day: the same artist, the same products, and where we can, the same time of day.
A look that holds beautifully in an air-conditioned studio at ten in the morning tells you very little about four in the afternoon on a clifftop in Uluwatu. We would rather find that out at the trial.
Built for humidity
Long-wear bases, proper setting, waterproof formulas around the eyes, and hair prepared to survive both humidity and wind. You should not be reapplying anything between the ceremony and dinner, and we build in a small touch-up kit for the few things that do need attention.
The whole party, on a schedule
Hair and makeup for bridesmaids, mothers, and anyone else is straightforward to arrange and completely determines what time everyone gets up. Roughly forty-five minutes per person, and one artist can only work so fast, so beyond about four people we bring in a second rather than starting at five in the morning.
We build the morning schedule backwards from the ceremony time, with the bride finishing last so the look is freshest, and enough slack that a late start does not cascade.
They come to you
The artists work at your villa or in your resort room. No traffic, no salon appointment, and the timing stays under our control rather than someone else’s.
The morning is also when your photographer is shooting the getting-ready coverage, so we make sure the room has decent light and is not full of suitcases. For the shape of the whole day, the full wedding package sets out how the timings fit together.

Common questions
Will my makeup survive the heat?+
That is exactly what our artists build for. A look that photographs well in a cool studio can slide in Bali's humidity, so they use long-wear products, setting techniques, and a touch-up plan.
Do you cover the bridal party too?+
Yes. We can arrange hair and makeup for bridesmaids, mothers, and anyone else, scheduled so no one is rushed.
Is a trial really necessary?+
We strongly recommend it. A trial means you walk into the wedding morning already confident in your look.
How early does the wedding morning start?+
Earlier than you think. For a bride alone, about two to three hours before you need to be ready. Add roughly forty-five minutes per additional person for hair and makeup together. For a party of five with one artist that is most of the morning, which is when we bring in a second.
Should I bring my own products?+
Bring your foundation shade if you are hard to match, and anything your skin reacts to. Otherwise the artists carry professional kits chosen for this climate, and their long-wear products will almost certainly outlast what is in your bag.
Can we do a second look for the reception?+
Yes, and it is worth considering if your ceremony look is formal. A change of hair from down to up between the ceremony and dinner takes about twenty minutes and photographs as a genuinely different evening. We schedule it into the changeover rather than squeezing it in.
