Buddhist Wedding Ceremony
A Buddhist wedding ceremony in Bali, led by a monk or Romo before the Buddha shrine, with the five candles, incense, and the binding of hands. Legal or symbolic.
A Buddhist wedding in Bali is a calm, meditative ceremony centred on the Buddha shrine. Buddhism is one of Indonesia’s recognised religions, so your marriage here can be legally binding, or held simply as a symbolic blessing. Either way, we arrange it with care and respect.
The ceremony is led by a monk or a Romo Pandita, traditionally inside a vihara, though it can be held at your own venue. The couple bow before the Buddha, recite the prayers, and light five candles of different colours alongside incense. At its heart is the binding: your hands tied with a red ribbon and a yellow cloth laid over you, the quiet symbol of two lives joined. We handle the monk, the setting, and every offering, so the day stays focused where it belongs, on the two of you.
Buddhist couples, from Indonesia or abroad, who want their faith at the heart of the day, whether as a legal marriage or a symbolic blessing.

Common questions
Can a Buddhist wedding be legally binding in Bali?+
Yes. Buddhism is one of Indonesia's recognised religions, so a Buddhist marriage can be legal: a religious certificate is issued by the Buddhist society (WALUBI), followed by civil registration. It can also be held purely as a symbolic blessing with no paperwork.
Where is the ceremony held?+
Traditionally in a vihara (Buddhist temple), the most fitting and private setting. It can also be held at your villa, hotel, or chosen venue if you prefer, and we confirm that is possible in advance.
What happens during the ceremony?+
The couple bow before the Buddha shrine, recite prayers and mantras, light five differently coloured candles and incense, and have their hands bound with a red ribbon under a yellow cloth. A monk or Romo leads throughout.
