Take a short drive from Candidasa, and you will find yourself heading towards the village of Sengkidu, located in the eastern coasts of Bali. Surrounded by verdant tropical greenery, Villa Jukung is nestled in a perfect spot along the coasts of the island.
The interiors of the villa are designed in colonial style, and projects an air of grandeur and homeliness at the same time. Guests with a taste for minimalist designs will find the wood furnishings and clean, white walls within the villa to their liking. However, the interiors of the villa are far from being plain and unspectacular, for beautiful paintings bedeck the walls and an array of antiques add a quirky, oriental vibe to the villa.
With its beautiful decor, it may be tempting to relax and while your time away leisurely in the charming interiors of the villa all day. However, do make time to explore the outdoor grounds, for it beholds a pleasant surprise.
Let’s take a walk in the outdoor area of Villa Jukung!
No, we are not referring to the lush garden, containing coconut, palm and banana trees. We are not talking about luxurious amenities, such as the spacious swimming pool and jacuzzi either. What we are referring to is the gorgeous, sweeping view of the sea from the outdoor deck of the villa.
Rave reviews of the view that Villa Jukung provides have been given. By day, you can feast upon the sight of neighbouring islands such as Lembongan, Penida and Lombok. When night beckons, the scenery transforms into a picturesque view, with the lights from cruise boats and tankers appearing to be floating, luminous orbs against a velvety backdrop.
Soak in this marvellous sight at the outdoor deck, and you will feel as if you are sitting within a jukung, floating across the blue ocean…

Guests with sore, aching muscles can practice yoga at an area located a mere five minutes’ walk away from the villa. If you are in a lazy mood, and feel reluctant to move a single limb, you will be glad to discover that a massage therapist is only a phone call away. You can enjoy the sensation of strong and soothing strokes against your body, while you lie on the massage beds at the outdoor bale of the villa.

The surrounding area contains several gems for keen and curious tourists. Make a ten-minute drive, and you will arrive at Tenganan village, home to the Bali Aga, or the original Balinese people. It is interesting to explore this quiet community located at the hillside, and to take a glimpse into the lives of the locals by watching them carry out traditional arts and craft activities.
Other attractions include a port known as Padang Bai. It takes a short ten minutes’ drive to arrive there, and you can engage in water activities such as diving and snorkelling. If you do not mind taking a longer journey, you can make your way to Tirta Gangga Water Palace or Ubud. The drive to these attraction takes about thirty to forty-five minutes.

The breathtaking views of the sea is another aspect that has made us fall in love with Villa Jukung. It is well designed, allowing guests to enjoy the stunning seaview from both the indoor and outdoor sections.
You may choose to lounge within the main living area and admire the view beyond the clear, floor-to-ceiling window panes. Otherwise, you can lie down on one of the sun loungers lining the deck. Wake up early to catch the sunrise, and you will catch sight of the morning sky, akin to a colour palette, filled with hues of orange, purple and blue…
